Our Story

During a cold night this December, standing by a fire, roasting venison, Wes King, Josh Guffey (and with Daryle Hogsed on telephone standby), met to discuss Spring baseball. Our vision was to form a 12U, 10U, and 9U team with the goals of developing players, forming relationships, strengthening the community, while still being competitive in travel ball tournaments. While each team is their own, our shared ambitions are to work together, share ideas, improve each other and their teams, all the while allowing these kids (and parents) to have fun and develop relationships on and off the field. We debated, we discussed, we brainstormed about the teams name, and then an idea sparked....the name shined brighter than the rest and it meant something. What we were doing right there at that moment was exactly a hope our players and parents would be doing- talkin' baseball 'round a fire. Like a lightning bolt striking the tree from the Natural, our team name was almost chosen for us: We would be Mountain Fire.

Change and growth is inevitable. Coach Daryle and Coach King parted ways, with Coach Daryle starting a different team. Coaches Guffey and King moved on to another organization and still coach their sons together, even today.

The Fire still burns and as of Fall 2022 the organization has four teams. We are pleased to offer players in our two oldest division 13u and 12U non-dad coaches, so we can say “no-daddy ball” and mean it. We hope that you contact us if you or your family is looking for a team with a great culture and helping players on and off the field.
